China Heights - Twenty Eight


China Heights is launching a group show of 28 artists, opening Friday 25th September 2009 from 630pm. The show will continue Saturday 26th to Wednesday 30th September 2009 12-5pm each day.

London Tuesday 22nd September 20009 - Burberry's show for its Prorsum Womenswear Spring Summer 2010 collection was the close for 2009's London Fashion Week.

The show was held at the Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in Westminster, London. The occasion was an opportunity to celebrate Burberry's new global headquarters (nearby at Horseferry House) as well as London Fashion Week's 25th Anniversary.

The show was attended by over 1300 guests including Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts, Emma Watson, Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Aygness Deyn , Mario Testino, Victoria Beckham and Maggie Cheung.

Saturday 5th September 2009 was the official release of the adidas Originals by Originals Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

The Spring/Summer 2009 collection featured work from fashion designer Jeremy Scott,
streetwear icon Kazuki, David Beckham with James Bond from Undefeated.

Jeremy Scott continued his fun, fearless approach, his range of classic sports silhouettes built around 3 key themes: Africa, safari and TV colour block.

Kazuki (Kuraishi) has focused on technical and modern influences to design his streetwear collection. Materials and elements include waterproof zippers, bonding and taping.

David Beckham (yeh, that one) and James Bond(the other one),designer and co-owner of Undefeated, were inspired by the mix of classic American sportswear with fashionable silhouettes, featuring luxury materials like cashmere and silk.

Cartier Treasures: King of Jewellers, Jewellers to Kings


"Cartier Treasures: King of Jewellers, Jewellers to Kings" exhibition will be on show at the Palace Museum in Beijing, China from 5th September to 22nd November 2009.

The exhibition assembles the essences of the East and West, demonstrating the Palace Museum's dedication to world art.

More than 350 items will be unveiled, dating from Cartier's beginning to pieces from the 1970's. Partly dedicated to royal jewels, the exhibition will be housed in China's former Imperial Palace and will be illustrated by historical documents relating to European royal courts, which earned Cartier thanks to King Edward VII of England, its reputation as the "Jeweller of Kings and King of Jewellers".

Peppermint Magazine

Peppermint Magazine is is a new magazine published in Australia focussed on promoting eco-friendly, green fashion. Peppermint believe that it should be a seamless and necessary transition to creating and buying fashion that is eco-friendly.

Issue 3 (Rhiannon Leifheit, vintage fashionista, pictured) focusses on craft/DIY, and includes profiles on Australian community crafters and their creative works, an interview with musician Lisa Mitchell, a feature by Esther Haven the people surviving by scavenging from a garbage dump in Manuga, Nicaragua and a profile on fashion designer Lisa Gorman. As always Peppermint is packed with fashion and beauty items that are eco-friendly, stylish and distinctive.

The magazine itself is produced with a waterless printing process, on 100% recycled paper.

C-90: Side B - Cassette Theme Works by Mark Drew

C-90: Side B is a collection of 'cassette themed' artwork by Mark Drew (Director of China Heights gallery). C-90 Side B is part two of Drew's Melbourne show at Don't Come gallery earlier this year. The c-90 works are inspired from Drew's own cassette music collection.

C-90: Side B is showing at the 72 Erskine Street gallery in Sydney, from Monday 31st August to Saturday 5th September 2009. Gallery opening times are Mon-Fri 11am-6pm, Sat 11am-3pm.

Present Tense at China Heights

Friday 4th September 2009 at China Heights is the opening of Present Tense, a group show by emerging artists Luke Marcatili, monika viktoria, Rob Baird, Jessica Davison, Libby Mclean, Sasanki Tennakoon, Madeline Riisfeldt, Evi Christofi, and Nicholas.

Present Tense reflects the current practice in each artist's work, a mix of abstraction and representation.

Present Tense runs from Friday 4th September to Wednesday 16th September 2009 at the China Heights gallery located at 257 Crown St, Darlinghurst. Exhibition opening night opens 6pm-8pm, and is open 12pm-5pm daily.
