Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutique Opens in Cannes

On Tuesday 19th May 2009, legendary Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre opened its 28th boutique, in Cannes. The boutique was opened during the 62nd Cannes film festival.

The official ceremony was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Cannes Bernard Brochand, Jaeger-LeCoultre CEO Jérôme Lambert (pictured), as well as by Jaeger-LeCoultre brand muse Diane Kruger (pictured), who wore a Reverso Squadra Lady jewellery watch during the occasion.

Fashion Palette

Fashion Palette is a new Fashion Industry event founded and directed by Sonya Mefaddi. A 2 day convention, twelve fashion designers shared their own career paths, with the intention of supporting the next generation of Australian fashion designers.
Hosted by MTV VJ Ruby Rose, speakers included Mimco, Arturo Elena, Daniel Herman and Alpha 60.

In addition to the speakers, the Fashion Palette Excellence Awards were also presented. The 2009 category award winners were : Sarah Schofield for Fashion Design, Phong Chi Lai for Accessory Design, Amanda Lim for Capturing Fashion and the Book Club for the People’s Choice award.

The prizes for each winner included AUD2,000, an the opportunity to meet with the General Pants Co. buyer. The top 15 entrants were also invited to showcase their work on the runway at the events after party, with all models, hair, makeup provided by Fashion Palette.

Fashion Palette ran from Friday, 1 May 2009 to Saturday, 2 May 2009 at the Sydney Convention Centre.

Visited Fashion Weekend Sydney 2009 at Royal Industries on Sunday 17th May 2009. Via Alley Popup at Galleries Victoria

Via Alley has recently opened a 'Select' store in the Galleries Victoria, Sydney. This store stocks selected items and accessories from Via Alley including cameras from Holga, Q-Pot Jewellery, shoes from To & Co and watches from IDEA International> Its also an opportunity to showcase colourful items like the Tear Dolls from Singapore brand Mimipong.

Via Alley are intending to open another store at Crown Street, Surry Hills later in May.

Spring Court in Surry Hills

French shoe label Spring Court are legendary for their iconic styled trainers made since the 1930's. Spring Court have recently opened a Sydney store.

Spring Court came onto the scene in 1936 when Georges Grimmeison created a shoe with a cotton upper and vulcanised rubber sole, popularly used as a tennis shoe. Features like foxing and toecap in soft white rubber, removable innersoles and ventilated archsupports (introduced to the design in the 1950's) have all become the hallmarks of Spring Court's signature styling.

Famous fans of Spring Court included Serge Gainsbourg, and John Lennon was photographed in a pair of white Spring Courts on the cover of the Abbey Road album.

Spring Court are also the makers of Schmoove, boots and shoes with flamboyant styling, with a nod to retro. The Surry Hills store also offers a range of Schmoove boots and shoes.

Faconnable Flagship Sydney Store

Partnered with Bentley Sydney, French label Façonnable launched its Flagship Australian store in April 2008 at 183 Elizabeth Street in Sydney. The Sydney store stocks a range of casual and business menswear, womenswear, shoes and cufflinks.

Façonnable was created from Albert Goldberg's vision of menswear, Sportwear chic in 1962. The menswear line was followed by a womenswear line some years later. Façonnable's roots started with Albert's father Jean, a tailor that settled in Nice, Rue Paradis. Jean became sought after by residents and celebrities for eveningwear for International Film Festivals in Cannes.
