Online fashion store Our Spot will be launching a popup store in Sydney from Friday 1st May to Saturday 30th May 2009.

The store will be located at 114 Burton Street Darlinghurst between Forbes and Darlinghurst Road.

Labels on sale will include: Season Nom De Guerre, Rittenhouse, United Bamboo, Common Projects, James Cameron, YMC and Rachel Comey footwear.

The store will be open Mondays to Fridays 12pm-6m and Saturdays 11am-5pm.

Do It With Denim Competition

The Do It With Denim national fashion design competition is an initiative of the Jeans for Genes Day campaign (on behalf of the Children's Medical Research Institute).

Fashion Weekend Sydney 2009

At Fashion Weekend Sydney you can shop clothes and accessories of 100 leading Australian designers selling their current and last season collections at a discount of up to 70% off the retail price.

Also featured is The Catwalk, a group show of 12 designers including Alex Perry, Bracewell, Manning Cartell, Nicola Finetti, Camilla, Marnie Skillings, Melanie Cutfield, Life with Bird, Rachel Gilbert, Bec & Bridge, Carl Kapp, Fleur Wood and Natasha.

Other highlights of Fashion Weekend will include Beauty makeovers, hair styling, manicures and more.

Presented by Shop 'Til You Drop, Fashion Weekend Sydney will run from Thursday 14th May to Sunday 17th May 2009, at the Royal Hall of Industries, Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park.

Cheap Monday Popup Store

Recently visited the popup store for Swedish Denim label Cheap Monday. The popup started at the beginning of April 2009, and will finish on Sunday 3rd May 2009. On offer is a range of Cheap Monday menswear, womenswear and childrenswear and denim.

The store is located at 379 South Dowling Street in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

Deakin and Francis Cufflinks for Fairfax and Roberts

Deakin and Francis was founded in 1786 in Birmingham, England, producing fine quality hand made jewellery in precious metal, using vitreous enamel and fine gemstones. More recently, Deakin and Francis have built an international reputation for their handmade cufflinks.

Deakin and Francis have been appointed by Sydney 'Fine Jewellery Couturier' Fairfax and Roberts to produce a range of some 300 hand-made cufflinks. The collection will be housed in Fairfax and Roberts' Deakin and Francis Room.

The Surry Hills Festival April 2009

The 2009 Surry Hills Festival was held at Prince Alfred Park on Saturday 18th April, running from 10am - 6pm.
Highlights included: Live entertainment and DJs, International Food Stalls, Dog Show-Off, Licensed Bars, Amusement Rides, over 200 market stalls, and fashion showcase.

Entry was via gold coin donation. The Surry Hills Festival is presented by Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre.

Penthouse Mouse 2009

Penthouse Mouse is a popup store, event space and art gallery, a satellite event of the L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. This innovative and much anticipated retail event was presented by Moth Design.

Penthouse Mouse 2009 was held at The Capitol, at 243 Toorak Road, South Yarra, Melbourne. Saturday 7th March - Sunday 22 March 2009.

Labels included: Trimapee, Leonard Street, Limedrop, Mecuralist, Kuwaii and Secret Squirrel. Fashion accessories were presented by Ambiguous Horse (a Melbourne agency for independent accessory designers). Designers included: Lost in the Woods, Jasmine Krupic, Firinn, Quyen.

Among the artists exhibiting at Penthouse Mouse was: Charlie Sublet(Melbourne photographer), Joel Zika(media artist and designer), Kirsty Hulme(Melbourne artist) and James Carey aka akustikstudio (artwork that combines architecture, design and art).

One of the events was the Live Photoshoot (pictured), hosted by Limedrop. The models played out a wedding couple theme.

Sydney Chinatown Market April 2009

Sydney Chinatown Markets are on at the moment. The Market is held on Dixon Street, running on Fridays 4pm - 11pm. The market is held amongst the restaurants on the street. Stalls include food, fashion, jewellery, tarot card reading and more.

Finders Keepers AW 2009

The Autumn/Winter 2009 Finders Keepers Independent Design and Art Market will run on the Friday 15th May(6pm-10pm) to Saturday 16th May(12pm-10pm).

Stalls will include Akina, Donna Sgro, Feed The Dog, Holly Chalmers, Kristen Doran, Made By White, Mattt Bags, Me and Amber and Secret Squirrel.

The market, co-presented by CarriageWorks, will be held at 245 Wilson Street, Everleigh in Sydney. Also showcased during the Friday and Saturday will be live music from independent musicians and DJs.

May Street Retrospective

The May's Lane Art Project is a laneway outdoor 'gallery' in St Peters. Invited artists create and display street art on the laneway.

Curated by May's director Tugi Baiong, artwork from the May's Lane Art Project was on display in the Carriageworks' foyer in a retrospective exhibition. The retrospective covers works of notable Sydney and international artists created from 2005 to 2008. The exhibition ran from Wednesday 25th March to Friday 6 April 2009.
