"I have never owned a pair of jeans. They look so uncomfortable, so thick and unyielding. I like dressing up. It transports my mind to another zone" - Gene Sherman.

Dr Gene Sherman is a former Trustee of the Powerhouse Museum and noted connoisseur, collector and wearer of fashion by leading Japanese designers.

The Contemporary Japanese fashion: Gene Sherman Collection is a selection of Dr Gene Sherman's personal collection of garments and accessories by Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto.

The collection will be on show at the Powerhouse Museum (500 Harris Street, Ultimo, Sydney) from 28 February 2009 to 31 May 2009.
