Object Gallery - How You Make It
In the How You Make It exhibition (curated by Kate Rhodes) at the Object Gallery invites you to experience conceptual approaches to fashion design firsthand. Eight Australian designers were invited to create new garment forms and language, based on the core production techniques of cutting, marking, joining and sizing. In some cases, designers reworked existing garments to come up with new pieces.
As part of the exhibition, visitors can try on some of the items, including an outfit worn by Björk on her recent album tour.
The designers are: Anthea van Kopplen, Ess. Laboratory (Hoshika Oshimi and Tatsuyoshi Kawabata), FormallyKnownAs (Toby Whittington), MaterialByProduct (Susan Dimasi and Chantal McDonald), Paula Dunlop, Project (Kara Baker and Shelley Lasica), Simon Cooper and S!x (Denise Sprynski and Peter Boyd)
The How You Make Exhibition runs from 21 June - 24 August 2008, at Object Gallery, St Margarets, 417 Bourke Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010, free admission. Check the Object Gallery site for more details about the exhibitions and opening times.
