Launched by Claire Cooper and Dion Kovacevic, fashion boutique Our Spot set out to offer labels they had fallen in love with during their time overseas. (Cooper worked in the music industry and Kovacevic was a pro-skater)

Our Spot made the move to 220 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst back in 2005, and have continued to develop a discerning and eclectic range of local and international labels.

The selection includes pieces from Rittenhouse (high end casual fashion from Sydney), Nom de Guerre (design collaborative from New York), Comme de Garçons (the beloved label from Rei Kawakubo in Tokyo), Common Projects (simple, luxe sneakers from designers Prathan Poopat and Flavio Girolami), as well as upcoming pieces from Robert Geller's Spring/Summer 08 menswear collection (recently launched New York label).

Juliet in Stilettos

The Juliet in Stilettos label was established in 2004 by founder and designer Karen Connell, specialising in party and evening dresses. "I like to see a woman instantly feel like a celebrity when she wears my designs.”

Juliet in Stilettos is stocked in over 45 boutiques across Australia, and Connell has just opened her own store in Newtown, Sydney. Alongside the dresses are Sky Rocket High Heel shoes handmade in Hollywood (exclusive to Juliet in Stilettos in Sydney) and Juliet in Stilettos leather handbags.

Skunkfunk

Skunkfunk, makers of 'multi-funktional' garments, have arrived in Surry Hills.

Skunkfunk started out as a t-shirt collection by founder Mikel Feijoo Elzo in 1996, in Spain. It has since grown to a collection of over 300 items, developed via an international network. The aim is to design clothing that is durable, funky and comfortable, without following fashion trends. Another part of the Skunkfunk strategy is not to advertise with big budget advertising campaigns, which would end up adding to the price of the garments.

Wallpaper* and Hedi Slimane

Finally got hold of the October 2007 Wallpaper* with the Hedi Slimane cover. This issue of Wallpaper* is '3 guest editors 3 covers Dieter Rams, Hedi Slimane, Jeff Koons Plus 350 pages of the normal stuff'

Slimane has also created 'pin-ups' - 20 black and white posters. Pin-up 1-10 or 11-20 is enclosed with the magazine, depending on which version of this issue you get.

Other highlights of Wallpaper* Oct 07 include: BMW Welt(BMW World) in Munich, Sir Basil Spence's British Embassy in Rome, homes of artists and architects, and of course, profiles on each guest editor: Slimane is interviewed by artist Thomas Demand, Rams is interviewed by industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa and Koons is interviewed by fashion designer Stella McCartney.

The Designer Rugs - Akira Kisetsu Collection

Australian design icon Akira Isogawa has collaborated again with Designer Rugs to create the 2007/08 Akira:Kisetsu collection. The 6 new designs reflects Akira's distinctive style of delicate patterns influenced by Japanese style.

Each design features 100% New Zealand Wool, some in combination with viscose or pure silk which add a subtle textural highlight.

Gama-Go

Tim Biskup, Chris Edmundson, & Greg Long are the creators of Gama-Go, an illustration fashion label based out of San Francisco. They started out with 6 designs on tees (working out of Long's basement in late 2000), and have since expanded their range to include everything from clocks, pillows, books, toys and hoodies. They have created enduring characters in their designs like Dirty Bird, TigerLily and Yeti (Shibuya Yeti pictured).

All their designs are limited edition. You can get Gama-Go gear in the USA, Canada, Venezuela, Singapore and dotted across Europe - its even in Australia (try MunkyBizness at Newtown or Paddington in Sydney, or Pocket Space in Hobart, Tasmania).
